Government Organizations Join Hands To Promote International Patent Filing for SMEs


The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Government of India have in consonance launched a scheme in order to provide financial support to Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and Technology Start-Up units for international patent filing. The vision behind this is to encourage and promote indigenous innovation and capture growth opportunities in the areas of Information Technology and Electronics.

The scheme covers 50% of the total patent cost upto a maximum of INR 15,00,000 (approximately USD 28,000). The patent processing costs covered by the scheme include attorney fees, patent office filing fees, examination fees, patent search costs, additional costs for entering National Phase and any other incidental fee upto grant.
